On October 8th, the Olympia High School varsity volleyball team is sponsoring a Black Out Night to increase awareness about Parkinson’s disease.

The Olympia High School volleyball teams will be playing the Pontiac Indians on this special night. All proceeds will being going to a foundation for Parkinson’s.

In the hopes of beating Pontiac again, the girls have been practicing every day. Team member Katie Bergeron commented by saying that even though they beat them once they are always a good match.

“Hit them where they ain’t,” said Coach Josh Klokkenga when asked what his game plan to win is.

With the Spartan winning record of 11-4, the girls are very optimistic they can overcome the 0-7 Indians. “Hard work and team work is key,” said senior Shannon Morr.

“I’m excited to represent a good cause. It will be a fun game,” said Jr. Sierra Priebe.

Parkinson’s has no cure so that is why games like this are so important to help raise money, raise awareness ,and to find a cure.

The Black Out night is a great way to raise awareness and money.  So pull on a black t-shirt and come out at watch the Freshmen team at 5 pm, the JV team at 6 pm, and lastly the Varsity at 7 pm.
