Olympia High Schools Women’s Golf Team Creates Memories

By Sarah Marsiglio, OHS Torch Reporter

The OHS 2015 Women’s golf team is experiencing a season filled with laughs that bonds them with one another and with girls from other teams while learning new skills every practice.

The 2015 Team consists of seniors Ellie Martin and Megan Driver, juniors Katie Adams, Katie Davis, and Becca Pratt, sophomore Brooke Dean, and freshman Carley Martin. Ellie Martin and Megan Driver are co-captains this year.

Mr. Lon Abrams is the coach once again this year for the women’s golf team. This is his 9th year being the coach. Abrams is a great coach who helps the girls improve their skills, said co-captain, Ellie Martin.

Co-captain, Megan Driver, said, “Don’t get mad if you mess up stay calm or you’ll get worse.” Co-captain, Ellie Martin, said, “It’s just a bad hole, not a bad round.”

The girls said this is the best advice they can give new golfers or any golfer while out on the course.

This year’s team of girls have bonded very closely and are truly enjoying each other’s company. When asked “what they like most about golf this year,” the answer was consistent that the girls like being with one another and meeting new people while golfing.

Freshman, Carly Martin, said, “What I like most about golf is getting to meet new people from other schools; the captains and coaches are doing a good job at teaching me skills that I can continue to work on.”

This season is coming to an end as the girls participated in their conference meet on Monday, October 5th, 2015. The season has been full of laughs for the girls and long lasting memories they have formed with one another.
