OHS Theater Department Presents Three Programs For Fall Play

By Shannon Morr, OHS Torch Reporter
At the end of October, the Olympia High school theater department will be presenting three separate programs for this year’s fall play, The Mousetrap, The Hitchhiker, and The Bride.
The Mousetrap, a classic murder mystery by Agatha Christie, will be the main production and will be accompanied by two smaller plays. The Hitchhiker was originally a radio broadcast which was reproduced as a stage play, and The Bride is an original piece written by the OHS theater director Mrs. Wendy Wade.
There will be three performances in the OHS auditorium. On October 16th and 17th, they will begin at 6:30pm and on October 18th, 2:00pm.
The cast consists of 25 students and 11 tech crew members. There was a lot more interest this year by many underclassmen, causing the need of the third play, said Mrs. Wade.
The Bride will be student directed,” said assistant director and middle school teacher Mrs. Alex Hembra. She was delighted to produce a well-known play.
Some of the main characters are played by seniors Savannah King, Collin Schopp, and David Bell, junior Matthew Althoff, and sophomores Rebecca Kath and Mason Rousey. Collin believes that this production will be some of the best fall plays in a while.
“The cast and tech crew have worked really hard so far. I think the audience can expect a good time,” said Matthew Althoff.
A special feature this year will be the addition of snowfall to the scene. Some of the other props include an old gas pump, a car replica, and grayscale projections.
