Officer Bradley Shares His Driving Expertise

By Karl Fasse, OHS Torch Reporter

In recent weeks, OHS students have run into a bit of driving trouble; Oly’s student Resource Officer, Jeremy Bradley, has some tips that encourage safe, ticket free driving for students.

Throughout his time here at Olympia, Officer Bradley claims that he has seen it all. He has dealt with incidents ranging from speeding tickets to seat belt violations.

Officer Bradley personally received many different tickets as a teenager and how this allows him to relate to students who are running into trouble. As a teenager, he received  speeding tickets, a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident, a ticket for too dark of window tint, and a stop arm violation.

Bradley said the key to safe, ticket free driving is, “Using common sense and good judgement.”

According to Officer Bradley, it is important to avoid cell phone use. He believes that cell phone use alone causes many accidents and is the cause of many tickets.

In terms of receiving a ticket versus a warning, Officer Bradley said that, “...cell phone use and seat belt violations are an automatic ticket.”

Bradley claims that in many other situations, whether a driver will receive a ticket or not all depends on the incident and the officer’s judgement. He also said that officers like honest and polite drivers and he encourages students to have a good relationship with any officer that they encounter.
