AP and Dual Credit Classes Offering Students Academic Challenge

by Austin Wis, OHS Torch reporter

Olympia High School dual credit and AP classes provide students with the chance to earn college credit and superintendent Dr. Andrew Wise recommends students to take them if possible.
With the cost of college rising, students should consider the fact of taking dual credit classes. Dr. Wise said, “If you can receive college credits in high school, it will save you money in the long run”.
Offering college level classes in an high school environment is a recipe for success. Students feel more comfortable with teachers and peers they are used too.
Students can take the classes as Juniors and Seniors. There is an exception of sophomores taking Advanced Placement U.S. History and U.S Government, known as APUSH.
“We tend to have very thorough discussions and further elevates my knowledge in the class“ says Junior Zach Kingston currently enrolled in APUSH.
You can receive the credits by scoring a three or higher on the special test at the end of the semester. You also are required to pass the class to earn them.
All Illinois colleges will accept the the credits, a numerous amount of colleges out of state will also accept them.
