NHS To Hold 3v3 Basketball Tournament for Relay for Life

By Genna VanWye OHS Torch reporter
The Olympia National Honor Society is holding a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Friday April 1st from 6-8 pm; all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
OHS students have begun putting together their teams for the event. The cost of entering the tournament is $20 and winners will receive a trophy and gift card. An all- teacher team will also be competing.
In order to promote the event, NHS members will be selling American Cancer Society bracelets in the next few weeks. These bracelets will be $1 each, coming in many bright colors, and are an acceptable admission into the games.
“This is a great way to have some fun and support cancer research,” said Katie Bergeron, senior and NHS member.
To support Relay for Life further, the NHS is asking all fans and supporters to wear purple clothing to the event in support of the American Cancer Society. Admission fee will be $2 at the door, or you can purchase a bracelet this week.
“It’ll be a step up from regular basketball games because there’s several mini games going on at once and you get to play with your friends. What could be better than that?” said Bailey Hoerbert, senior and NHS member.
Teams will be ranked by skill level and placed into a bracket. There will be two brackets; a competitive bracket and a fun bracket. OHS basketball players will be reffing the games.

Games will begin at 6pm Friday night and games will be run on both courts. A concession stand will be available, with cookies and water.
