The
Olympia High School NHS will be hosting a Halloween event for Olympia
elementary children on Saturday, October 31 from 1-3 pm, featuring Trick or
Treating, Games and Slightly Haunted Hallways to tour. The event will take place at the high school.
The
carnival will be located in the High School Academic Hallways as well as the
Commons area. Hallways will have special themes including Princess, Spooky,
Pumpkin, and Superhero. In the Commons, games and cookies will be
available. Mad scientists also will be
performing various experiments for the children.
The
children are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes.
Parents should come with their child
and join in on the fun. NHS members will also wear costumes and give out candy
along the way.
“It’s a
service project and community outreach. Overall, it’s a family friendly event,”
said Amanda Hapgood, OHS English Teacher and NHS Advisor, about the Halloween
event.
“I
cannot wait to dress up in my superhero costume and interact with the kids,”
said NHS member, Karl Fasse, on his excitement for the event.
Over
the past few weeks, the NHS members have been hard at work putting together the
Halloween event. This included getting various ideas from sources such as
Pinterest or Google.
“It’s
going to be exciting. We’ve come up with ideas that the kids will love,” said
NHS Secretary, Carson Goff, on the preparation for the carnival.
